Law Firm of the Year: Republic of Ireland

McCann FitzGerald

For McCann Fitzgerald, 2017 was all about digital. Building on the data investigations group that it launched last year, the firm ramped up its investment in technologies and resourcing models to offer compliance solutions to clients. Its investment in Kira has already led to significant reduction in document review costs to clients, while in September 2017 the firm put money into AI platform Neota Logic. Other initiatives include a knowledge platform for clients and the expansion of its virtual data room product, Collaborate. On the advisory side, McCanns has also broadened its client offering with a new tax compliance service and a new betting and gaming group. Looking ahead, the Dublin firm is targeting further reach into US markets and investigating agile working. ‘McCann Fitzgerald showed a remarkable ability to pursue long-term investment strategies that succeeded in diversifying the firm's revenue streams, besides the excellent results deriving from their core on complex equity capital markets and corporate finance transactions,’ said the judges. ‘Their investments in client-facing technology and generally in a digitalisation of client's approach, as well as the creation of new industry departments show clear operational priorities very appreciated by its vast network of international referrals’
