Law firm of the year: France
With clients that include Airbus, Caisse des Depots et Consignations, Accor, Philip Morris, Microsoft, SNCF, Nike, Teva and Total, August Debouzy is a fixture on the Paris corporate, IP and litigation scene. However, what particularly distinguishes the firm from many of its competitors in France is a track record of diversity of practice; two-thirds of its lawyers are female, and its managing partners have always been women.
While the firm has just one office in Paris, its outward-looking approach is signalled by its international client base, which makes up half of this work. The number of new clients served by August Debouzy has increased by 23 per cent over the year, and it also runs a well-established start-up hub, in which the firm provides legal support to six young companies for a year following a competitive process. The judges praised the firm’s ‘excellent growth figures' and added ‘CSR activity and strategic initiatives are notable, this is a focused and well-run firm with an impressive deal list’.
